Lake Okeechobee and Caloosahatchee River (Okeechobee Waterway) Recreation The Port LaBelle Inn offers an 18-hole, par 72 golf course, (863) 675-4411. The Cypress Knee Museum, located 14 miles northeast of LaBelle at the junction of State Road 29 and US 27 in Palmdale, offers visitors the opportunity to view a huge collection of cypress knees and a nature walk through a cypress swamp. Call ahead for appointment (863) 675-2951. Gatorama, one mile south of the Cypress Museum, is a genuine alligator farm. Vistors can see how the gator lives and learn about the business of raising gators for profit, (863) 675-0623. The Alva Historical Museum is located just east of the Caloosahatchee River bridge in the old library building. Visitors to the museum can get a taste of what life was like for the early settlers in Alve, which was established in 1887. The museum is open Saturday afternoons from 2 - 4 p.m. The LaBelle Heritage Museum is open Thursdays from 10 - Noon and 2 - 4 p.m. and offers literature on LaBelle's history, (863) 675-0034. Eden Winery- Eden Vineyards and Winery is tucked away in abeautiful, old Florida setting on twenty acres in the small rural community of Alva just west of LaBelle.
